Bevor ich in mein nächstes Work-Away-Projekt starte, entscheide ich mich noch für einen Ausflug in die Berge Nordostthailands. Umgeben von den letzten Ausläufern des Himalaya liegt nahe der Grenze zu Myanmar das Dorf Pai. Bereits auf meinem Weg dorthin merke ich, wie gut es sich in den Bergen für mich anfühlt, mit jedem Höhenmeter scheint sich mein Geist inspirativ ein wenig mehr zu öffnen. Und vielleicht ist es auch schon die Kraft des nicht so fernen Himalaya aus Myanmar, welche ich hier subtil spüre und als so angenehm und gottgeschaffen romantisch empfinde.
Before I’m going to start my next work away session, I decide to make a trip into the mountains in the northeast of Thailand. My destination is the village Pai surrounded by the last foothills of the Himalaya near the border to Myanmar. I notice the good vibrations of the mountains on my way to Pai already and feel an inspirating opening of my mind with every more inch of high. Maybe it’s the power of the Himalaya not far away in Myanmar which makes me feel subtle enjoyable in a kind of romantic union with the divine creation.
Pai wirkt auf mich wie ein Sammelbecken für kreative Menschen aus aller Welt und präsentiert sich trotz Nebensaison entsprechend stark multikulturell belebt. Die bunte Mischung aus Einheimischen, europäischen Zuwanderern und globalen Rucksackreisenden erschafft hier jeden Tag auf ein Neues eine kaum in Worten zu beschreibende, magisch einhüllende Atmosphäre. Pai erscheint wie ein kleines Paradies für alle, die sich für einen Lebensstil abseits des Mainstreams interessieren. Wie zu einem akkumulierten Kern verdichtet greifen hier Angebote von vegetarischem Essen, traditionellem Kunsthandwerk und spirituellen Aktivitäten ineinander und kreieren einen einladenden Raum für nach Veränderung suchende Seelen.
Pai seems to be a melting pot of creative people from all over the world and it looks very alive in a multicultural way. The colorful mix of natives, european immigrants and global backpackers creates a magical atmosphere which is difficult to decribe with words. It looks like a little paradise for people offside the mainstream and the intense collection of vegetarian food, traditional artwork and spiritual activities feels like a compact core of think different offerings inviting souls for changing theirs former lifes.
Eine magische Atmosphäre verströmt auch die Umgebung um Pai herum. Ähnlich den Jesus Statuen in Rio oder Lissabon wird der Ort von einem riesigen weissen Buddha beschützt und die umgebenen Berge wirken wie uralte Wächter mit unverrückbarem Fundament. Und wenn sich das Zwielicht über das Tal legt, entstehen faszinierende Farbspiele der Natur, welche sich vor meinem inneren Auge wie Fantasiewelten meiner Seele spiegeln und meine Gedanken in andere Dimensionen gleiten lassen.
The environment around Pai feels a kind of magic too. The surounding mountains appear like ancient natural guardians and a giant white Buddha is protecting the village in the way of the statues of Jesus in Rio or Lisboa does. Especialy when the twilight comes over the valley, there are some fascinating colorful projections in the nature, which reflect like fantasy worlds at my inner eye and let my thoughts travelling into other dimensions smooth.
