In Laos bin ich zum ersten Mal in einem Schlafbus gereist. So viele Fahrtstunden in einem doppelstöckigen Pritschenbett zu verbringen erlebe ich als ziemlich skurril, zumal die Strassen in Laos nur zum Teil asphaltiert sind. Und so muss man eigentlich immer mit einem Auge wach bleiben, denn man weiss nie, wann das nächste grössere Schlagloch kommt und einen unsanften Körperkontakt mit dem engen Schlafgemach mit sich bringt.
I went by sleeping bus for my first time in Laos and it felt a bit comical to spend so many driving hours in a small double bunk bed. The roads in Laos are asphalted partially only and that’s the reason why I needed to stay awake a little the whole time. So nobody knowed when we were entering the next big pothole to feel a rough body contact inside the tight bed.
Die Natur in Laos ist grösstenteils noch unberührt. Und so konnte ich hier im Dschungel eine sehr reine Schönheit der göttlichen Schöpfung bewundern. Wie zum Beispiel die Kokons im Schmetterlingspark, welche als bezaubernde Unikate filigran gestalteten Schmuckstücken gleichen.
There is mostly unaffected nature in Laos. So I was allowed to admire a very pure beauty of the divine creation in the jungle, for example the uniqueness of cocoons in the butterfly park looking like filigree jewelry.
Obwohl Laos ein recht armes Land ist, sind die meisten Menschen hier sehr herzlich und offen im Kontakt mit Gästen. Besonders die Kinder strahlen eine solch natürliche und liebevolle Zugewandtheit aus, wie ich sie in meiner Heimat nur sehr selten erlebt habe. Durch ihre Dankbarkeit für die vielen kleinen und einfachen Dinge des Alltags haben sie sich etwas Wertvolles bewahrt, was in unserer westlichen Welt kaum noch vorhanden ist.
Although Laos is a poor country, most Lao people are very wholehearted and open minded while staying in contact with guests. Especialy the kids are looking so much naturaly and full of loving kindness as I can’t remember from my home country. They are able to keep something alive which seems to be lost in our western world, because of their gratitude for the small and simple things in life.
